This apartment renovation transformed the 1980s conversion of a former furniture factory space from a 2 bedroom to a contemporary 3 bedroom home. The formerly sloped ceiling was raised and straightened allowing the soft diffused northern light to flood in. The floor was replaced with a wider more neutral colored oak, which was echoed in the accents of the space, the doors to the bedrooms and the media cabinet in the living room. This strong visual volume contains all of the entertainment equipment, including specialized speakers in the lower, metal mesh and blackened steel portion. This language is echoed in the music niche where a sliding oak countertop can be pulled out for keyboard playing. The existing kitchen was opened up to the main space by removing the wall above counter height, and the existing bathroom neatened up with new storage and lighting.
