Affordable Housing

At Anne Thorne Architects Partnership in London, Catherine helped deliver Angela Carter Close, a new street of affordable houses in Brixton.

On a previously undeveloped lot, after remediation, the homes were built for families of 5 people or more, some with provision for disabled hoists, making them 100% accessible.

With reference to the proportions and scale of local existing coach houses, the houses were constructed mostly from timber and low carbon, low voc materials creating healthy environments within.

The gentle curve of the scheme plan, and the front and rear gardens have created opportunities for a community to flourish on a street named for a local author, known for her feminist, magical realism.

Partnerships

‘The Cinema Sanctuary' is an installation concept by acclaimed artist Sabrina Gschwandtner with architectural design by Catherine Clark & Tughela Gino.
