This brownstone renovation project in Carrol Gardens, Brooklyn, was a complete gut rehab. The dark, decaying interior was stripped back to its shell. New functional elements were inserted: a kitchen box and island, storage elements, and bathing areas. The shell or envelope was molded to accommodate a new fireplace, bench, and closet areas while exaggerating existing lines of sight in this long, elegant space.

This project was featured in the 2012 book Design Brooklyn by Anne Hellman with photos by Michel Arnaud (published by Stewart Tabori & Chang, New York).
